Plan your moveWhat it is
A move to Zug is more than a new address
Within the same municipality, a move is only a change of address: a letter to the commercial register, signed by an authorised person, with the rental agreement or the domicile declaration as proof. A move to another municipality or canton changes the seat, and the seat is part of the articles of association. That needs a notarised shareholders' resolution and an entry in the commercial register of the new canton.
A seat in Zug should also be a place where the company is managed, because a canton taxes a company whose seat or effective management lies within it (Art. 20 StHG). Our offices give you that place: meeting rooms for the general meeting, mail opened every business day, and two addresses, at Untere Roostmatt 8 by the lake and at Baarerstrasse 38 near the station.
Prices for all packages are under services and prices, more answers in the FAQ. Your ongoing accounting and tax can move to Zug at the same time.

How it works
The move, step by step
These are the steps for a GmbH or AG moving to Zug from another municipality or canton.
Onboarding
You complete form F-01 with certified ID copies of the beneficial owners. Our services start once it is complete.
Documents
We prepare the shareholders' resolution amending the articles, the new articles and the application to the commercial register.
Notarisation
A notary records the resolution as a public deed; we coordinate the appointment.
Filing in Zug
We file the documents with the commercial register of the canton of Zug. The register may ask for an advance payment first (Art. 5 GebV-HReg).
Entry and deletion
The register in Zug enters the new seat and informs the previous register, which deletes the old entry.
We reply within one business day and prepare the documents as soon as the onboarding is complete (terms, clause 11).
What you need
- A current commercial register extract and the current articles of association
- The names of the shareholders who pass the resolution
- Form F-01 and certified ID copies of the beneficial owners
- Notice period and contact details of your current domicile provider
What do I need to do to move my company to another canton?
The shareholders of a GmbH, or the general meeting of an AG, resolve to amend the seat in the articles, and a notary records the resolution as a public deed. The commercial register of the new canton then receives the deed, the certified new articles and the application with a certified signature. After the entry, it informs the previous register, which deletes the old entry.
Change of seat or change of address: what is the difference?
If you stay in the same municipality, only the legal domicile changes. A letter to the commercial register, signed by an authorised person and backed by a rental agreement or domicile declaration, is enough; the tariff is CHF 30 (GebV-HReg, annex no. 1.3). If you move to another municipality, for example from Baar to the city of Zug, the seat changes and the articles must be amended.
What does it cost to move a company seat?
Three items. The federal register tariff lists CHF 200 for an amendment of the articles and CHF 30 for the new legal domicile (GebV-HReg, annex no. 1.3). The notary charges for the public deed. With us, the formalities of the move are part of the Base package, from CHF 149 a month for your new registered office in Zug.
Can I save tax by moving my company seat to Zug?
The effective profit tax in the city of Zug is 11.71% in 2026, the second lowest of all cantonal capitals after Lucerne (KPMG, Clarity on Swiss Taxes 2026). That rate only applies if the company is really managed from Zug, because a canton also taxes a company whose effective management lies there (Art. 20 StHG). In the year of the move, both cantons tax the company for the whole tax period and split profit and capital (Art. 22 StHG).
Can a foreign company move its seat to Zug?
It is possible, but the conditions are strict. Among other things, the company must show that the foreign law allows the move, that it can adapt to a Swiss legal form and that it has moved the centre of its business activity to Switzerland (Art. 126 HRegV). The register charges CHF 420 for a move from abroad (GebV-HReg, annex no. 3). Often, forming a new Swiss company is the simpler route.
